Scope & Content |
Item contains two articles from Chicago Tribune. One is a continuation of the 10/13/1963 article (see 2020.1.141: Stickney Township Incorporation). The second is from 1/26/1985. The first article mentions the then township supervisor Dr. Robert L Smith who is against incorporation of the area into the city of Normandy. He states that he prefers a "council-manager" form of goverment. The group in favour of the incorporation mentions that he orginally favoured said incorporation. Another offical, James Londos wanted Stickney to be annexed by Bridgeview but that has been denouced as not practical. The second article discusses Cook County area suburbs and there is a highlighted section at the end that mentions after five failed incorporation attempts, Stickney Township voted to create Burabank. Apparently a motivated was a desire not to be annexed by the city of Chicago. Both articles are contained in a plastic sleeve |
